Calvin Klein’s Autumn Winter Collection 2011 – Calvin Klein’s Autumn Winter fashion trends for Women 2011 at New York Fashion Week: King of minimalist chic, Francisco Costa, delivered a collection of simple A-line shapes in soft, muted shades of grey, camel and white.

Francisco Costa, the current king of pared-down chic delivered a collection worthy of that title on the last day of New York Fashion Week today.

His presentation epitomised minimalist sophistication: a sleek grey A-line dress had a leather panel detail across the bodice; stream-lined white trousers with elastic foot-holds were paired with a cropped shearling jacket.

A buttery soft calfskin dress came in pale camel, while a shimmering black trouser suit contrasted with an otherwise neutral palette of whites, soft greys, silver, pale camel and muted gold or “wheat” as Costa called it.

The looks were Calvin Klein classics in the most sumptuous fabrics. There was punched velvet, a cashmere jacquard coat and a voluminous shearling duffle jacket.

The collection, Costa said, was inspired by a “teddy bear”, and he wanted everything to be soft to the touch, while staying true to his striking architectural aesthetic.

“This collection is about proportion, dimension, and surface texture,” Costa told the Telegraph. “We used a lot of alpaca, technical silks, shearlings and parchment leathers together to create interesting silhouettes and contrast their different qualities. The collection has a lot of soft, tactile pieces that really give a feeling of being wrapped in luxury.”
